Newton Cpunty High School football standout line– backer Guy Holden signed a national letter of intent to continue his athletic career at East Central Community College in Decatur. Holden, a 5-foot-10, 2IO:..pound linebacker, was a first team Class 3A All-State selection foa· the 2007 Cougars and was chosen Best Linebacker in Region 5-3A. A three– year starter, Holden led Newton County in tackles last season with l13 solo stops and 72 assists. He was also credited with one forced fumble, two fum– ble recoveries, and t 0 tackles for loss yardage. He helped lead the Cougars to an ll-2 record . Shown with Holden are his mother, Racheal White of Decatur, and Cougar head football coach Jeff Breland.
