ECCC Classes of1957, 1958, and 1959 set up scholarship to assist ECCCstudents For almost 10 years. members ofthe 1957, 1958 and 1959 graduating classes at East Central Community College have held reunions during horne– corning activities on the Decatur campus. The group was first organized by the late Martha Tullos Hummel, a 1958 ECCC graduate who resided in Greenwood. Mrs. Hummel, a Choctaw County native and 1956 graduate ofLouisville High School, often remarked how she "treasured the memory of her classmates....and remembered that many warm friendships had formed" dunng her East Central years. Before she died in September 2004. Mrs. Hummel encouraged members of the three classes to continue their annual gct-togethcrs, which they have done so in impressive numbers. As a result of the reunions and continued friend– ships, the group decided to establish a scholarshap to assist ECCC students with college expenses. The Classes of 1957, 1958 and 1959 Scholarship will be awarded when the $25,000 goal is reached. Approximately $2220 has been received for the scholarship as ofmid-March 2008.
