Diamond Warriors win three of,four East Central Community Mississippi

Timothy Maloney took the loss for EC on the mound, allowing one run on no hits through I 113 innings. He fanned two batters and walked two. \ Mack Creighton was the starter, allowing three runs on four hits through SIX innings. He struck out three batters and walked three. In the second contest, EC rallied from a l-0 first-mnmg deficit by scoring one run in the second and two in the third to claim the victory. Community College by a combined 28- I0 margin Monday in Decatur. The matchup was origi– nally scheduled for Sunday as part of fi nal round action of the ECCC Invitational, but was postponed due to inclement weather. Brian Jones was the top offensive performer for EC in the opener with a double, two singles, and three RBis. Singles were recorded by Terrell Hendrix, Jacob Casey of Union; Deon Williams, Jack Edmonson, and Newton County's Brandon Williams. EC scored five runs in the fifth, four in the third, and two in the fifth to pull away. Jesus Aleman got the win for EC, allowing two earned runs on seven hits through seven innings. He fanned eight batters and walked two. In the second contest, Casey and ZeEricka Hall of Carthage led EC with two hits each. Casey belted two doubles and Hall contributed two singles.

Clinr Coleman added a double and collected three RBI along with teammate Luke Walker of West Lauderdale. Walker also sin– gled as did Deon Will iams, Walker, and Kylie Ming. EC scored four runs in the first inning, six in the second and five in the sixth to record the victory. Northeast tallied its two runs in the fifth inning. Gregory Stovall of Neshoba Central picked up the win. Stovall allowed two earned runs on five hits. He srruck out seven batters and walked four. Timothy Maloney and Brian Jones pitched an inning each. Next up for the Diamond Warriors are doubleheaders at Jeff Davis in Brewton, Ala., today and at LSU– Eunice on Saturday. EC hosts Mercyhurst Northeast on Wednesday, Feb. 27, in doubleheader action beginning at 3 p.m. at the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex.

College split its two Friday matchups in first-round action of the ECCC Invitational this past weekend, from ~all~ng 5-4 in extra school mnmgs to K a s k a s i a reports Community College in the opener and defeating Baton Rouge Community College 3- 1 in the nightcap. The Diamond Warriors rallied from a 3-l deficit by scoring two runs in the bot– tom of the sixth to knot the score at 3-3 , and tied the con– test again in the seventh at 4- 4, only to have the visitors from Centralia, lll., score the go-ahead run in the eighth for the one-run victory. Allen Cheek, a product of CaJTOII Academy, led the EC oiTcnse with a double, single, and two RBls. Brandon Williams of Newton County High School contributed two singles. Also recording singles were Terrell Hendrix, Chris Parkman, and Josh Lafferty.
