ECCC Lady Warriors, Warriors p ost victories at Gu1f Coast

East Central Community College's Lady Warrior:. moved into a tie for the MACJC South Division lead and the Warriors found themselves one win away from post-season play after both teams registered victories at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Monday .night on the Perkinston campus. The ECCC women posted a 73-64 win over the Lady Bulldogs and improved to 19-4 overall and I0-3 in league action, the same division mark as Meridian Community College. The other top women's teams in the South ipclude Copiah-Lincoln and Southwest, each with 8-5 records, and Pearl

River, whose record ~tands at 7- 6. The top four teams in each division qualify for the MACJC \Tournament scheduled February 25-28 at ltawamba Community College in Fulton. Jn EC's win over Gulf Coast, Rashlma Jenkins wa.-. top scorer with 23 points. Jenkins, a 5-9 freshman forward. is a product of Airline High School in Bossier City. Also scoring for the Lady Warriors were Allison Phtllips of Leake Academy. 18; Mystee Dale of Choctaw Central, 12; Tanesha Brown of Jackson Provine, II; Tawayatha Evans of Newton, five; and Chotsani Henderson of Newton. four. EC held a 33-32 adYantage at

halftime.

The Warriors won their third-straight contest by holding on for a 65-62 win over the Bulldogs, improving to 11-13 overall but more importantly 6- 7 in the league standings, the same record as Gulf Coast. Co-Lin sits atop the South Di\ ision standings at 11-2, fol– lowed by Meridian at 9-4 and Pearl Rtver, 8-5. Should EC defeat visiting Pearl River Thursday night, the Warriors w11l qualify for the MACJC and Region 23 tournaments. A loss to Peal River final would end the Warriors' season. rn the win over Gulf Coa.'it, Dcvarus "Scooter" Walker and Jo~h Luckett were leading scor– ers with 14 points each. Walker 1s a 6-foot freshman guard from Newton County High School and Luckett, a 6-4 freshman for– \Vard from Carthage.
