East Central Defeats Hinds CC SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

In the men's contest, Josh Luckett of Cartha~ was top scorer with 21 points. Also scoring were Marquis Wilson of Delhi (La.) High School, 13; Devarus "Scooter" Walker of Newton County and Darron Maxtion, a product of Spark– man High School in Harvest, Ala., nine each; Rod Lofton of Forest, eight; Dre Dickinson of Meridian, five; and Des Morales of Lake. Joe Thomp– son of Morton and Tony Park– er of Meridian, two each. Courtney Nelson of Clinton had 21 points to lead the Bull– dogs, who dropped to 5-16 and 2- 10. EC held a 38-27 advantage at the break. The Lady Warriors and War– riors host Pearl River in the regular season fmale on Thurs– day in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building. Tip-off times are 6 p.m. for the women's contest and 8 p.m. for the men's game.

Deaundria Singleton of Hazlehurst and Lakwanta Wil– son of Brookhaven had 11 points each to lead the Lady Bulldogs, who fell to 7-15 and 1- 11. EC led 4g.24 at halftime.

DECATUR-The playoff· bound East Central Communi– ty College Lady Warriors scored a season high 103 points and allowed just 57 for the visit– ing Hinds Community College Lady Bulldogs, and the War– riors held on for a 71-68 win over the Hinds men on Thurs– day. The ECCC women, who were unranked in the latest NJCAA poll for ·the first time in several weeks, improved to 18-4 overall and 9-3 in league play following the impressive victory. The Lady Warriors are cur– rently in second place in the MACJC South Division stand– ings behind Meridian Commu– nity College, whose records . stands at 10-2. ~ Three teams-Copiah-Lin– coln, Pearl River and South– west-are tied at 7-4. The top four teams in each division advance to the MACJC
