High School. Bowie is a former basketball standout at ECCC, where he eamcdAll-Region 23, ftrSt teamAll-State and All-Star honors for the I 996-97 season. He also served as president of the student body association. After earning an associate's degree at ECCC in J 997, Bowie continued his athletic career at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, where he received a bachelor's degree in health education in 2000. He also played professional basketball in Europe. Bowie received a master's degree in education from ASU in 2005. Bowie is the son of Marie Honeysucker of Ludlow and Ivory Lyles ofLittle Rock, Ark.
