' ECCC teams move closer to clinching playoff East Central Community Col– lege basketball teams collected wins over Southwest Mississippi Community College Thursday night and moved closer to qualify– ing for the state playoffs, which includes the top four teams in the MACJC Nor th and South divi– sions. This year's competition will be held February 27-March 2 at Northwest Mississippi Communi– ty College in Senatobia. their record improvPto 17·6 overall and 84 in league play. Copiah-Lin– coln and Pearl Hiver are tied for the division lead with 9-3 marks. Andrea Dubose, a product of Newton County High School, pumped in 26 points in leading the Lady Warriors over Southwest. Other EC scorers were LaSaundra Harrison of Union. 14, Valerie Harris of Lake and Elyse Clay of Scott Central, 10 each. East Central held a 39-34 advan– tage at halftime. The Lady Warriors, who posted an 82-76 decision over the South– west women, improved to 16-7 overall and 9-3 in division play, two games behind Copiah-Lincoln which leads the South at 11-1.
