From press reports East Central Community Col– lege sophomores Jaimee Jones of Louisville and Laura Fore– man of Little Rock have been named to the 2006 All-Missis– sippi Academic Team, which recognizes scholarly achieve– ments and leadership accom– plishments of students enrolled in the state's two-year colleges. Jones is among 15 students statewide named a First-Team selection and will receive a $1,000 scholarship to continue her education. Foreman was chosen on the All-Academic Second Team, which includes 35 community/junior college students. Team members were honored Wednesday, March 22 at the State Capitol by the Mississippi Legislature and were guests of honor at a luncheon held at the Regency Hotel. Lt. Gov. Amy Tucker was the featured speak– er at the luncheon and State Senator Terry Burton of New– ton served as master of cere– monies. Jones, whose major is environ– mental engineering, has a 3.9 grade point average. She serves as president of the Fellowship ofChristian Athletes and Theta Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges and co– sponsor of the All-Mississippi
She is also an a c t i v e Jones member
of the Baptist Student Union, serving as Girls' Bible Study Leader, Council Member and member of The Way Ministry Team. In addition, she is a member of the Lady Warrior soccer team. She is a recipient of the Phi Theta Kappa Leaders of Promise Scholarship, Dr. Mar-
