Hall of Fame East Central Community College in Decatur held its annual Awards Day ceremonies Thursday, May 4, when numerous students were hon– ored, iQcluding six students who were named to the College's Hall of Fame, the highest honor presented at the two-year institution. To be considered for this honor, students "must demonstrate exempla– ry character, superior scholarship, worthy leadership and contribute to the betterment of East Central Community College," according to Dr. Phil Sutphin, College president. Hall of Fame inductees for 2005- 06 include Joy Cavenaugh of Chunky, Kevin Gregory and Jajmee Jones, both of Louisville, Lori McMullan ofDecatur, Kut1 Nelson of Hickory and Casey Shackelford of Union. Cavenaugh is a graduate of Newton County High School and is the daughter of Rick and Linda Cavenaugh of Chunky. ADean's List Scholar, she serves as vice president of the Student Body Association and

president of her freshman class. She was selected Mai<;l of Honor during the annual Homecomi ng elections and was team captain of the College's first women's soccer team,

Joy Cavenaugh which was named NJCAA Fall Academic Team of the Year in women's soccer for 2005-06. Cavenaugh is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi, Baptist.Student Union, Wesley Foundation, Warrior Corps, Presidents Council and the Lady Warrior fast-pitch softball team. Those nominating her wrote, "Joy is a great example of what every stu– dent athlete should strive to be. She has managed to participate in two varsity spol1s, serve as an officer in student government, participate in numerous clubs and activities and maintain a very impressive GPA
