ECCC REMEMBERS RON DAVIS Family members, colleagues, students and friends of the late Ron Davis, longtime biology instructor at East Central Community College in Decatur, gathered near Cross Hall where Davis taught classes for 19 years to honor h1s memory with the planting of a Franklin Tree. Patti Davis, Ron's widow, and their son, Matt, are shown planting the tree with help from biology instructor Joe Johnson right. Standing from left are Ron's mother, Ruby Davis, sister-in-law Darlene Davis and sister Denita Smylie, all of Decatur. In the back– ground are b1ology instructor Sharon LeJeune, lett, and chemistry instructor Peggy Clayton. Several family members and ECCC personnel participated in the tree-planting ceremony. Before the ceremony, physics instructor Dr. Talmage Graham delivered a parable on Ron Davis and provided details about the Franklin Tree, which is named for Benjamin Franklin. Several current and former students also spoke about Davis, who lost his two-year battle with cancer on April 21. The tree-planting ceremony was held on May 9, on what would have been Davis' 51st birthday.
