special to The Star DECATUR- More than 480 stu– dents received diplomas May 13, when Ea t Central Community Col– lege held its 77th commencement at the Neshoba Countv Coliseum in Philadelphia. - Graduation ceremonies, normally held at ECCC's Warrior Stadium·on the Decatur campus, were moved to Philadelphia because of damage caused by Hurricane Katrina. Included in the graduate total are those who completed degree require– ments following the 2005 summer and fall terms, according to Dr. Lavinia Sparkman, vice president for instruction. Those participating in the pro– gram included: graduating sopho– more" Pharen Nelson of Forest, who v.ill gave the invocation; JaimeeJones of LouisviJle, who presented the keynote address; and Kurt Nelson of Hickory, who gave the benediction. Cassidy Crenshaw of Philadelphia prec:;ented the musical selection MYou'JJ Never Walk Alone." Sparkman presented the candi– dates for graduation, and ECCC Pres– ident Dr. Phil A.
