Hodge leads East Central to win Fre~hman Johnny Hodge drained two free throws with 30 second remaining and forced a turnover wtth six seconds left as Ea~t Central Com– munity College claimed an 80-78 South Division win over Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Mon– day night on the Perkin~ton campu~. Pierre Barlow of Scott Central, nine; Bryan Johnson of Jackson Provine, seven; Earnesto Green of Jackson Provine, six; Mike Prescndieu of New Dimensions HS and Paul Milligan of Chillicothe HS in Vernon, TX, three each; Jacquas Jones of Forcl>t and Coshune Bingham of Newton, two each. East Central held a 44-43 advan– tage at halftime. The Lady Warriors Jed 35-33 at the break. ECCC squads take on Jones Coun– ty Junior College in Ellisville on Thursday night and host Hinds Com– munity College Monday in Decatur. The ECCC/Hinds contests as well a~ the remaining Monday night games can be heard on KICKS 98 (98.3 FM) and on the ECCC website, www.eccc.edu, featuring veteran broadcaster Melvin Wooten.

With the victory. the Warriors improved to 15-5 overall and 6-3 in league pia}. while the Bulldogs fell to 11-8 and 6-3. (Note: Ea~t Central Community College is appealing a February 3 ruling by the MACJCAth– letic Council regarding the eligibility of a Warrior basketball pla)er and the sub~equent forfeit of fhe games played in 2006. Sophomore LaSaundra Harrison of Union pumped in 17 points to lead the ~~ Central women. who fell to 13-8 overall and 6-3 m the divtsion. Gulf Coa~t improved to 13-7 and 4-5.
