Carthage High School alumnus Ca leb Shepard, a member of the ECCp tennis team, was named to the Acad– emic All-American list. ECCC students named Dis– tinguished Academic All-Amer– icans for 2006 and their respective sports areas are Lindsey Walker (softball) of Little Rock, Abby Miller (soft– ball) of Moorhead, Joy Cave– naugh (softba ll) of Chunky, Clancy Cleveland (tennis) of Union, and Heather Steele (basketball), J aimee Jones (soccer) and Anthony Stanford (football), all of Louisville. In addition to Shepard, oth– ers named to the Academic All– American Ji st are Micah Lanier (soccer) of Little Rock, and Emily Massey (basketball) of Forest. Students who receive NJCAA Academic All-Ameri– can honors must have complet– ed three semesters of college work and participated in at least one season on the varsity level. Honorees will be fea– tured in the NJCAA publica– tion, JUCO Review.
Shepard listed among JuCo All-Americans East Central Community College in Decatur is again well represented on the list of student-athlet es selected as Nat ional J unior College Ath– letic Association (NJCAA) Aca– demic All-Americans. The elite group includes Distinguished Academic All– Americans - students with a 3.8 grade point aver age or above - and Academic AU– Americans, those with at least a 3.6 GPA.
