ECCC teams sweep Hinds
The Central Commw1ity College Lady Warriors moved a step closer to qualifying for post-season play and the Wamors snapped a four-game skid after both teams registered wins over Hinds Community College Monda:> m;h\ on the Utica campus. The Lady Warriors cruL~cd to an easy 73-44 decision O\er the Lady Bulldogs, while the Wamors held on for a 70-67 win over the Hinds men. Shannon Lloyd of \\c~t Lauderdale scored 12 points to lead the East Central women \\ ho improved to 15-7 overall and - ~ in South Division action. The La~ Warriors are currently fourth m the division standings, behind Gulf Coast (9-2) Jones (8-3) and Meridian (8-3). The top four teams in each division qualify for the state tournament. In addition to Lloyd. other EC scorers were Kristin Chaney of Newton County, Tierra Young of South Leake and Sara Judice of Teurlings Catholic (La.) High School, I0 each; Kotrcece Bender of Newton and Dominetrix Hunter of Philadelphia, six each; Kim Cox of Lake, five; LaSaundra Harrison of Union and Jndia Backstrom of Neshoba Central, four each: and Ashley Flint of Choctaw Central. Heather Steele of Nanih Waiya and Roxana Rogers of Lake, two each. The Lady Warriors held a 30-19 advantage at halftime over the Hinds women, whose record dipped to 4-19 and 0-11.
