COLLEGE SOFTBALL Lady Warriors sweep MCC ~dal to the Record_

With the score tied 2-2 in the bottom of the third and two runners on base, East Central Community College softball coach Scott Hill twice gave the bunt signal to freshman outfielder Erica Hardin. But both times Hardin was unable to convert her coach's wishes, so he gave her the green light to swing away. And swing away she did as the Louisville High School product blasted a dinger over the leftfield fence and the Lady Warriors main– tained their 5-2 lead for a doubleheader sweep of division foe Meridian Corrununity College Thursday on the Decatur campus. East Central rallied to take the frrst game by a 3- 2 score in extra innings, with sophomore Kristin Chaney of Newton Coun– ty High School scoring the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a single by Abby Miller of Madison Central. Chaney had earlier doubled send– ing home sophomore Shelley Ferguson from second base. Ferguson is also a Newton County High School product. See ECCC, Page 2B
