ECCC women keep division win streak alive The East Central Community College Lady Warriors picked up their fourth and fifth straight South Division wins last week as they defeated Pearl River and Co-Lin. three losses following the ECCC game. Things didn't go as well for the ECCC men as they lost to PRCC 90- 71. and Co-Lin 79-70. ECCC women 64 Pearl River 51 Kim Cox of Lake was the leading scorer for EC against Pearl River, as she pumped in 14 points. Also scoring were Kotrecce Bender of 'Newton with I2, Kristin Chaney of Newton County with ll, and Shannon Lloyd of West Lauderdale and India Backstrom of Neshoba Central with both scoring nine. Carmen Labat had 17 points to lead the Lady Wildcats, who fell to 9- 9 and 2-5. East Central held a 39-23 advan– tage at the break.
ECCC defeated Pearl River at home last Monday night, 64-51, and then took a close 61-55 victory at Co– Lin. Those victories helped put the Lady Warriors back in the chase for the State Tournament which only takes the top four teams from each division. ECCC, the defending state and Region 23 chan1pion, dropped its first three division games but now stands at 5-3 in the South and 13-6 overall. The Warriors led 33-32 at the half, only to see the Wolves rally and take the victof) in the second half. Ryan !Judson led the Warriors with 15 poipts, while Tawon Walker and Garrick Nichols each scored II points. The ECCC men fall to 5-15 overall and 2-6 in the South Dimion. The ECCC teams have l\\O home games this \\Cek ill> they were to host Gulf Coast on Monday night and Jones County Junior College on Thursday.
