"(Clark) did an awesome, awe– some job," Miller said. "He did too good t~ lose. \\'e knew coming in it was gomg to be a pitching battle. It was a duel to see who was going to last longer. Once it got tight, I told coach I feel like the defense can play behind me, my pitch count is staying down and I fee! I can go the whole way." The Gulf Coast pitcher's only true miscue came in the top of the ftfth inning when ECCC's James Harris turned on a 2-0 pitch and sent a ball over the left-field wall at Ken Curly Farris Field. Harris' home run was only East Central's second base hit of the game. ECCC scratched out an insur– ance run in the top of the sixth staring with right fielder Van ' Wilson drawing a one-out walk. Taylor Petty notched hits number three for the Warriors with a single after the walk, and Corey Coward followed a strikeout with a s ingle that brought home Wilson for the two-run advantage. After the two-hit outburst in the sixth, Clark locked down ECCC's offense again not allowing another hit over the last three innings and striking out the last six batters he faced. Miller was just as nasty in the game's final third. The ECCC hurler struck out two batters in the seventh inning one in the eighth and the first • batter he faced in the bottom of the ninth inning.
