Carson served as president of the Mississippt Community and Junior College Band Directors' Association in 2001-02 and was selected the College's Humanities lnstntctor of the Year for 2001. He was chosen ECCC's HEADWAE (Higher Education Day a Working Toward Academic Excellence) Instructor of the Year in 1995 and was named a Lamplighter participant in 1992, an annual recognition of the state's outstanding community and junior college instructors. He was selected ECCC's Academil Instructor of the Year in 1991 . He currently serves as stall' chair for the College Band Directors' National Association Carson is a graduate of Forrest-Sherman High School in Naples, Italy; East Central Junior College; and Delta Stall' University, where he received bachelor and master\ degrees in music education. He is married to the former Brenda Branning of Philadelphia, who serves as the College's director of finan– cial aid. They have three children, Chris, Jennifer and Jeremy. Jared Brownlee begins his eighth year as assistant direc– tor of bands. His main areas of responsibility includes directing/arranging for the WaU '0 Sound drum line, direct– ing of the concert band and the 9irecting/arranging for the percussion ensemble. Prior to joining ilie ECCC staff, Brownlee served as band director at Southaven High School and president of the Tate/DeSoto Band Directors Association in 1997. He is also the former Director of Bands at Saltillo High School and Guntown Middle School. His experience also includes serving as a graduate assistant and marching percussiou
