College's basketball teams are off to a perfect start in 2004, as the Lady Warriors and Warriors registered vic– tories over Faulkner State and Itawamba last week. • EC women 74, Faulkner State 57: Rita Birden scored 16 points in leading EC Saturday at Bay Minette, Ala. Also scoring for the Lady Warriors, 10-2, were Lenore Gray with 15 points, Kristen Chaney and Monique Overstreet with 10 each, and Ebone'e Leverette with eight. EC led 34-20 at halftime. • EC men 93, Faulkner State 88: Stephen Dyess was the top point maker for EC Saturday with 18 points as the Warriors improved to S-6. Lady Warrior scorers were Chaney, 15; Kotreece Bender, 11; Birden, 10; Kimyatta Viverette and Gray, eight each; India Backstrom, seven; and Leverette, six. The score was tied 64-64 at the end of regulation. The Lady Warriors led 34-32 at haJftime. • EC men 93, Itawamba 74: The Warriors completed the season sweep with Thursday's win at Fulton. Warrior point makers were Martin, 26; Tadlock, 13; Willis and Desmond Jones, 11 each; Hudson, nine; and Dewayne Hughes, eigh t. EC held a 45-31 advan– tage at the break.
