ECCC announces Hall of Fame honorees

Carson is a vocal musical education major and a grad– uate ofNewton County High School. She is the daughter of Thomas and Brenda Carson of Decatur. She is a member ofWarrior Corps, Phi Theta Kappa, Presidents Council, Student Education Association, Wall 0' Sound Marching Band, Collegians, Baptist Student Union, Concert Choir, ECCC Players and Dian1ond Girls. Carson serves as Phi Theta Kappa's vice president for leadership, was selected freshman secretary, sopho– more class president, secre– tary of the Presidents' Council and Collegians' president. She received various schol– arships, was named a National Dean's List and Collegiate All-American scholar, was selected for Who's Who Among Students in American Community/Junior Colleges and was named East Central's HEADWAE (Higher Education Appreciation Day-Working Toward · Academic Excellence) Student of the Year. · Those nominating her wrote, "Not only has Jennifer kept a 4.0 grade point average, she is truly an ideal representative of what a model student should attain: high grades, active participation in activ– ities, deep involvement in honor organizations and an exceptional, positive atti– tude towards the quality education she has received at East Central." A music education major, McAdory is a graduate of Louisville High School and is the son of Margie Thompson and J ohn McAdory, both of Louisville. He serves as president of the student body association and treasurer of Phi Theta Kappa. Who's Who Among Students in American Community/Junior Colleges. He rec~ived the Robert G. Fick Memorial Scholarship, the Leon Eubanks-KAWYC Peers Scholarship and the ECCC Singers Award. Those nominating him wrote, "He has been one of the most outstanding young people I have worked with in my 21-year teaching career. As student body association president, he has been an exciting pres– ence, always willing to listen to new ideas and to try new things. He has been involved in so many campus activi– ties. He is responsible and always willing to help even if it's not his job. It has been said that some students bleed black and gold and Adam is no exception." Myer s is a pre-nursing major and is a graduate of Louisville High School. She is the daughter of John and Bonnie Myers of Louisville. She serves as secretary of the Student Body Association and co-captain of the cheerleading squad. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Sigma Mu Tau, Warrior Corps, AmeriCorps, EC Environmental Club, Diamond Girls and Concert Choir. Myers is a National Dean's List Scholar and was select– ed to Who's Who Among Students in American Community/Junior Colleges. She was also a member of the 2003 Homecoming Court. Those nominating her wrote, "Audra has a very pleasant personality and displays courtesy and respect at -ell times. She is always willing to help oth– ers. She is an excellent stu– dent who does not settle for average work. She is a great ambassador for ECCC." A Dean's List scholar, Talbert r eceived various scholarships and was named to the 2004 Phi Theta Kappa Mississippi All-Academic First Team. Those nominating her wrote, "She is the very best kind oqeader. She is knowl– edgeable, thoughtful, responsible and encourag– ing. She never seeks the limelight. Rather, she push– es her team or staff to achieve. She is there to pro– vide the :necessary spark of inspiration to encourage her peers, and to work side by side with them. She is will– ing to do whatever it takes to get the job done right. She has a creative mind and is not afraid to think for her– self" Warner is an elementary educatiOn major and gradu– ate ofWinston Academy. She is the daughter of Jack and Pat Warner of Louisville. She serves as treasurer of the Student Body Association, secretary of Mu Alpha Theta and president of the Student Education Association. Warner is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Mu Alpba Theta, Warrior Corps, Presidents' Council, Diamond Girls and the Baptist Student Union, where she also serves as leader of"TheWay," a drama ministry team. A President's List scholar, Warner has received various scholarships and was select– ed to Who's Who Among Students in American Community/Junior Colleges. Those nominating her wrote, "She is of the highest moral character and is always willing to do for oth– ers. She is the most kind– hearted, ambitious and humble person I have ever met. She tries as hard as she can at everything she does and she will accept nothing less than perfection. If Amy Warner is not Hall of Fame material, I don't know who is."
East Central Community College in Decatur recently observed it:-. annual Awards Day ceremonie~ where numerous student~ were honored. including six stu– dents who were named to the College's Hall of Fame, the highest honor presented at the two-year institution. To be considered for this honor, students "must demonstrate exemplary character, superior scholar– ship, worthy leadership and contribute to the betterment of East Central Community College," according to Dr. Phil Sutphin, College presi– dent. Hall of Fame inductees for 2003-04 include Ashley Buckman of Bay Springs, Jennifer Carson of Decatur, Jenna •ralbert of Newton and Adam :McAdory. Audra Myers and Amy Warner, all of Louisville. A business administration major, Buckman is a gradu– ate of Heidelberg Academy and is the daughter of Kathy and Chr1s Elliott and Dewayne and Anna Buckman, all of Bay Springs. She is a member of Phi Theta · Kappa, Students in Free Enterpri!'P, Warrior Corps, Mu Alpha Theta, Presidents' Council and A.meriCorps. Buckman has been a cheerleader for two years and served as captain her sophomore year. She is a Dean's List and United States Achievement Academy scholar. She received the Entergy of Mississippi Scholarship and was selected to Who's Who Among Students in Amencan Community Colleges. She was selected East Central's 2003 Most Beautiful.
