The East Central Com– munity College Lady War– riors have qualified for the State Regional fast-pitch softball tournament that starts Friday at Northeas t Community College in Booneville. The top two teams from the North, Central and South divisions will be competing for the tourna– ment championship and the right to advance to the National Junior College Fast-Pitch Tournament. The Lady Warriors stand at 26-14. East Central enters the double-elimination tourna– ment as the No. 2 team out of the Central Division and takes on host Northeast Community College in a 3 p.m. Friday game. Earlier this season, the Lady War– riors dropped a 1-0 decision to Northeast in its invita– tional tom·nament. "We have really played hard to get to this point," said first year ECCC coach Scott Hill. "The girls have worl{ed hard. Now we will try to keep it up and we'll see how far we can go." Last week was a busy one for East Central. On Tues– day, the Lady Warriors swept two games past East Mississippi, 9-1 and 12-4. Also expected to pitch in the tournament is Lauren Bar– rett who has an 11-8 record. The Lady Warriors' top hitters so far this season are shortstop Kristen Chaney, who is batting .444; Smith, who is batting .375: and Har– ris, who is batting .345.
