From Stoff_9nd Wire Reports The East Central Commu– nity College Lady Warriors can control their own des– tiny this week as they try to earn a place in the upcom– ing state playoffs. As the week started, East Central was in second place in the Central Division with an 8-4 di\·is10n record. Meridian Community held down flrst place with a 9-3 division mark while Hinds is a close third with a 7-5 record. The Lady Warnors, who hold a 22-12 O\'erall record, were to host division rival East Mississippi on Tues– day, Pearl River in a non– division game on Thursday, and then clo~e the regular season at home against Hinds on Saturday. and MCC have a game on Wednesday. 'i\t the start of the sea– son, we wanted to have a good season and make the state playoffs," said ECCC coach Scott Hill. "We are going to have a winning record, and we have a good chance at making the play– offs. We can reach both of our goals." Marley Smith of Union is ECCC's top pitcher with an 11-5 record. Holmes 13-3 and 9-3on Tues– day. In game one East Central pounded out 16 hits and scored nine early runs to take the 10-run win. Shelly Ferguson led the way at the plate with a double and Marley Smith picked up the pitching win for East Central to improve to 10-5 for the sea– son. In game two, the Lady Warriors amassed 13 hits to secure the sweep. Kristin Chaney led the way at the plate with two triples and Lauren Barrett was the winning pitcher to improve her record to 9-6 for the season . East Central improved to 21-11 overall and 7-3 in the MACJCCentral Division.

ECCC 4-0, MCC 3-6 The Meridian Communi– ty College Lady Eagles split a doubleheader on the road against' East Central Com munity College on Saturday afternoon to remain in flrst place in theMACJC Central Division. In gan1e one. East Central took a one-run win with Marley Smith recording the win on the mound for the Lady ~arriors. Jessica Lawrence led the way at the plate for the Lady Eagles with three hits, mcluding a triple. Niklu McClaskey added a home run in the game one loss. In game two. MCC record– ed a shutout thanks to a great pitching performance from Kirby Shelby.
