ECCC slips by SMCC DECATUR- With the likes of Pearl River, Hinds and Jones looming on both of their sched– ules, opening MACJC South Division play with a win Sat– urday afternoon was imperative for both the East Central Com– munity College Warriors and the Southwest Mississippi Community College Bears. The hostWarriors scored 10 points in a span of less than three minutes in the second quarter to take a 17-6 victory over the Bears from Summit. ECCC improved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the division. Southwest fell to 0-3 and 0-1. "It was a good team win, but I thought in the second half we relaxed," said ECCC head co~ch Terry Underwood. "All in all, we won and we're proud to win. We're 1-0 in the division and that's the biggest thing." The Bears lost three fum– bles and had two passes picked off to remain winless.
