., I think this is a great win for our program. We have struggled this year. EMCC was held to just three points for the next 5 1/2 minutes, as ECCC chopped its deficit down to 67-63 with 39 seconds left in the game. SCOOBA-The East Mississippi Community College women's basketball players gave them– selves an earlier Christmas present on Monday night- a win. The Lady Lions (2-9) snapped an e ight-game losing streak with a 72-65 victory over the East Central Community College Lady Warriors (6-3). "I think this is a great win for our program," said Lady Lions coach Dale Peay, whose team does not play again until Jan. 6, 2005. "We have struggled this year. We have been preaching to (the team) that if we wou ld play two halves instead of one half we would have the opportu– nity to beat somebody." Of cour se, EMCC's first win since Nov. 4 didn't come easy, especially since the Lady.Lions were matched up against the No. 6 team 111 the nation. The Lady Lions lost a thin 34-29 halftime lead three minutes into the second half, as the Lady Warriors ripped off an 11-1 run out of the break for a 40-35 advantage with 17:16 to play. After calling two timeouts less than a minute apart, EMCC went on a big run of its own, 16-2, to take a 53-42 lead with 10 minutes left in the game.
