ECCC representatives shine in all-star contests ... East Central Community College coaches and players were on winning teams in the annual MACJC All-Star Basketball Games held recently at Choctaw Central High School. Lady War– rior head coach Brad Hodge (left) direr;:ted the South women to an easy 88-70 victory over the North All-Stars, and Warrior head mentor Billy Smith (right) directed the South men to the1r 97- 94, come-from-behind win. Representing the Lady Warriors on the South roster were Rita Bir– den (20), a product of St. Fredrick High School in Monroe, La. ; Kimyatta Viverette (34) of Lake and Lenore Gray of Newton. Viverette poured in 14 points and shared most valuable player honors with Gulf Coast's JoAnna Williams, who also scored 14 points. Gray had nine points and Birden added three. Jamaal Martin (22), a product of Northeast Lauderdale High School in Mendian, was the lone Warrior representative on the South squad and scored three points. ECCC assistant coaches LaCole Brooks (women) and Kevin McGhee (men) also served as ass1stants on the All-Star teams. The Pearl River Resort, Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, Pepsi Mississippi Sports Medicine and ECCC sponsor the All-Star games.
