The defeat drops Northwest, 27-4, into the consolation bracket against Highlands, ill., at 11 a.m. Thursday. Midland improved to 28-6. The Rangers led by as many as nine points in the first half and by 42-40 at the break. But more-physi– cal Midland, whichenjoyed a57-42 rebounding edge, went on a 12-2 run in the second halfto build a 15 point lead, 70-55, ~th 6 minutes left. Hakim Pasul led Midland with 17points. Northwest got 20 points from Jonathan Low and 11 from AntonioShaw. Both teams committed 27 turnovers. East Central, the Mississippi and Region 23 champion, got 16 points fromKristin Chaneyand 11 from Rita Birden. Kotrece Bender added ninemore for the Lady War– riors, who trailed 40-36 at the intermission. Northwest's men are back in the NJCAAs for the third time in four years.
