Warriors To Face Three Rivers In First-Round Of NJCMTourney · SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

Lady Raiders won the Region 16 Championship and are also district champi– ons. Three Rivers is located in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Competition in the double-elimination tournament ooncludes on Saturday, March 20, when finals are held in the champi– onship and oonsolation brackets. . In other recent news, several East Central basketball players received all state honors. In the South Women All-State listings, first team honorees include Kristin Chaney and Lenore Gray, both also named to All– Region 23 Tournament Team. On the sec– ond team, local recipients included Lake native Kimyatta Viverette who was also named to All-Region 23 Tournament Team. East Central's Rita Birden also was named to the seoond team.

SAUNA, East Central Community College's Lady Wani.ors were scheduled to begin oompetition in the 2004 NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship by taking on Three Rivers Community College on Tuesday in the weeklong tournament being held at the Bicentennial Center. As of press time the only results available indicated the Lady Warriors lost the first game dropping them into the losers bracket. The Lady Waniors, 29-2 under third-year head ooach Brad Hodge, iue the No. 10 seed and the Lady Raiders are seeded seventh. East Central qualified for the Nationals by winning the Region 23 tournament after claiming the state title a week earlier. The Kan. -
