SAl INA, Kan.- The Kansas jinx was officially put to rest on Thursday as East Central Community College knocked off Lake Region (N.D.) State Col– lege 74-66 in tlw NJCAA Division I Women's National Basketball Championship. ECCC got its 30th win of the season and advances to a noon contest today with Weatherford (Texas) College, 25-10. · ECCC went 0-2 in the 2001 tournament at Salina's Bicet'ltennial Center and was 0-1 this time around. ECCC snapped its 0-for-Kansas skid by the method that's seen the Lady Warriors win 30 of their 33 games thus far... a lot of players con– tributing. Eleven Lady Warriors had seen action by half– time. Kristin Chaney finished with 18 points. four rebounds, two steals, and two assists. She played a team-high :H minute~. Viksryte had 22 points against Louisburg and 24 against Hiwassee. Kizyte had 16 against Weatherford and eight against Hiwassee. Sokalska had 13 against Louisburg and four against Hiwassee. Next up in the consolation bracket are the Coyotes ofWeatherford (Texas) College. Weath– erford had Thursday off after sending Louisburg (N.C.) College packing 8·1-68 on Wednesday. The Coyotes lost 73-71 to Hiwassee (Tenn.) College in first-round action. Weatherford entered the tournament as the No. 11 seed. The Coyotes have players from five stairs and two other countries.
