Loe-led Northwest wins consolation crown in OT

From apec:ial reports HUTCHINSON, Kan. - Just like hisnamesake, Jonathon "J-Lo" Loe hit the right note Saturday with a game– winning shot in his Northwest Com– munityCollege swan song. And it was on the biggestjunior col– lege stage of all - the NJCAA Tour– nament, where the Rangers edged Eastern Wyoming 69-68 in overtime in the consolaton final or battle for seventh place. Loe, a sophomore guard from Memphis, hit a 6-footjumpshot in the lane with 7.5 seconds left as the Rangers made up a six-point OT deficit. · Loe, a former Ole Miss Rebel who has not yet signed for next season, led Northwest, 3Q-4, with 16 points. Joe– mal Campbell added 12 and Marcus Harris 11. The Rangers' 30-win season was the second in their history.

NJCAA MEN/ WOMEN MattLojeski ledEasternWyoming, 23-15, with 22 points. The Lancers hurt themselveswith 38 turnovers. Northwest led 33-29at halftime. Southern Idaho women 58, East Central48 SALINA, Kan.- EastCentral shot 28.8 percent from the floor and 40 percent from the free-throw line, doomingtheLadyWarriorsin thesev– enth-place game of the NJCAA Tour– nament. ECCC, 31-4, placed eighth in the country for Region 23's best showing ofthe 2000s. The 31 wins are a school record, but Saturday's 48 points were a season low. Kotreece Bender led ECCCwith 10 points. Sidney Orndorff topped College of Southern Idaho, 29-7, with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
