ECCC to host benefit tourney

A three-person scramble is scheduled for April 17 at Decatur Country Club as a fundraiser for the East Central Community College football program.

Entry fee is $75 per team with tee-off time set for 9:30a.m.

Plaques will be presented to first-place winners in each flight. Door prizes will also be awarded and lunch will be provided. Closest-to-the-hole and longest drive competitions are also scheduled. Welcome back

Chris Moffett stepped back on the mound at Scaggs Field for the first time in almost two years on Tuesday afternoon in a doubleheader against Wabash Valley. Moffett had missed all of last season and part of this season after shoulder surgery. "It felt great to get back out there and pitch an inning," Moffett said after pitc;.hing one scoreless inning against Wabash Valley. "My team has been behind me and showed a lot of support along with my parents.· The former Clarkdale standout pitched the final inning in the second of the doubleheader and recorded two strikeouts. MCC head coach Mike Federico admires his sophomore right handers W?rk ethic. "He is such a great young man and he has battled through this whole thing with great class,"Federico said. "It is great to have him back and he has worked so hard to get to this point.·

Moffett's father, Cotton, who pitched for the Eagles in 1974, said it was good to see his son back on the mound.

"No words can describe this," Cotton said. "Chris has worked so hard and been through sc much and this is one of the proudest days as a father for me."
