East Central women clinch title from staff reports The East Central Community College

Lady Warriors clinched the MACJC South Division regular season championship with a 72-59 victory over Copiah-Lincoln Thursday at Wesson. The Lady Warriors got 16 points from Kimyatta Viverette, 15 from Kristin Chaney, 13 from Kotreece Bender, and 12 from Rita Birden as they

improved to 21-2 overall. The Lady Warriors, ranked No. 15 nationally, had already clinched a berth in the MACJC state tournament. Co-Lin has also

sewn up a berth in the women's state tournament along with Northeast Missis– sippi, Mississippi Delta, and Northwest Mississippi. Northeast is ranked No. 4 nationally. The Lady Tigers' only loss has been to Motlow (Tenn.) State. On the men's side, four teams have wrapped up berths in the state tourna– ment heading into the final week of the regular season. Already in are Northwest, Holmes, Jones, and Pearl River. The North women's champion will host the state tournament. - Marty Stamper
