program at EC Area registered nurses recently attended a program on Biotenorism presented by the Mississippi Nurses Association, District 15, and held at the Associate Degree Nursing Build– ing at East Central Community Col– lege in Decatur. District 15 is com– prised of Leake, eshoba. Newton and Scott counties. Dr. Ann Whitehurst, associate pro– fessor in the area of infectious dis– eases at the University of Mississippi Medical School, was guest speaker. The program was provided through the Bioterrorism Department of Infec– tious Diseases of the Mississippi State Deprutment of Health. Representatives from area hospi– tals also informed the group of efforts at respective facilities in preparing for various forms of Biotenorism. In attendance were Margie Majure, Director of Nursing at Scott Regional Hospital in Morton, who also repre– sented Scott County Emergency Pre– paredness; Pam Rigdon, assistant Director of Nursing at Alliance Laird of Union; and Cheryl Allen from Rush Hospital in Meridian. Brenda Kirby of Forest and Dana Dear of Enterprise, nursing instructors at ECCC, serve District 15 as presi– dent and vice president, respectively. Sandra Thomas of Chunky, Licensed Practical Nursing instructor at Meridian Community College. serves a<; treasurer. ru1d Juanita Gra– ham of Conehatta is secretary. District 15 nurses will parncipale in the annual convention of the Mil-– sissippi Nurses Association at the Gulf Coast Convention Center Oct. 22-25. Kirby, Sheni Cantey of Merictian and Cheryl Allen of Chunk} Will serve as delegates.
ECCC student receives art award '
East Central Community College sophomore art major Victoria Daniels of Philadelphia won third-place honors in the acrylic painting competition at the annual Central Mississippi Artists Guild Show held at Roosevelt State Park near Morton. Daniels' awarding winning entry is titled '+Reflections." She is a graduate of Neshoba Central High School. (EC Photo)
