A second-straight Region 23 Tournament crown was not in the cards for East Central Community 1 College's Lady Warriors who succumbed to nationally ranked Meridian Commun– ity College 89-80 Monday night in first-round action of the annual competition held at A. E. Wood Coliseum on the Mississippi College cam– pus in Clinton. The East Central women, who finished the season with a 14-11 record under firs t– year head coach Brad Hodge, trailed by as many as 18 points (36-18) during the first half, but were able to trim the MCC lead to 40-30 at the– break.
