DAVIS NAMED TO ALL-MISSISSIPPI ACADEMIC FIRST TEAM - East Central Community CoUege sophomore Matt Davis(center) of Decatur was recently named to the 2002 Phi Theta Kappa All-Mississippi Academic First TeiUl'lt which recog– nizes the scholarly achievements and leadership accomplish– ments of students enroUed in the state's community and junior coUeges. An engineering majo~ Davis maintains a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Davis and fellow ECCC sophomore Lana Rogers of Carthage who was named to the second team were rec– ognized along with other award recipients by the Mississippi Legislature at the State Capitol and during a luncheon at the Oarion Hotel in Jackson, with Governor ronnie Musgrove serv– ing as featured speaker. State Senator Teny C Burton served as master of ceremonies at the awards luncheoh. the all-Mississippi Academic Team program is coordinated by the Phi Theat Kappa International honor Society, The Garion-Ledge~ the Mississippi Association of Community and J unior Colleges and the Mississippi State Board for Community and Junior Colleges.
