<. ECCC Band Members Receive National Honors - East Central Community College Wall 0' M t Sound Marching Band members (pictured from left) percussionist Andy Murphy of 1 Southeast Lauderdale, clarinetist Damein Wash of Newton County High School and Anthony Barfield of Neshoba Central were recently selected to participate in the College j ( Band Directors' National Association Honor Band. Regarding the honor, ECCC Director of Bands Thomas W. Carson said, I was thrilled to have three students participating in this very prestigious ensemble. My students were the only band members selected from a com– munity college and they were also the only students selected from the state of Mississippi. Many members of the honor band, consisting mostly of upper class performance majors, were surprised that a small, rural community college in Mississippi had such a diverse and large band program." The honor band met during the associations Southern Division Conference, which was held this year in Atlanta, Georgia, February 20-23. After two days of rehearsals, the band concluded the conference with a concert.
