Soccer Warriors come up short against Gulf Coast East Central Community College's soccer team recently completed its most successful season by posting a 9-6-3 overall mark and a 5-3-2 slate in South Division competition. The Soccer Warriors we1;e just a win away from qualifying for their Q!st appearance in the state playoffs, but a 1-1~tie in double over– time with Gulf Coast on Oct. 29 at Decatur sent Meridian Community College as the number-two team in the South with top– seeded Gulf Coast. time and the Bulldogs had several scoring opportunities in the second overtime period. Karweaye Leads League in Scoring Karweaye led the South Division in scor– ing with 17 goals, according to MACJC statis– tics released followed the 2002 campaign. A sophomore forward from Liberia, West Africa, Karweaye also had six assists and played a key role in leading the Soccer Warriors to their best season in the program's four-year existence.

Freshman midfielder John Theobald was also among tpe scoring leaders. Theobald, a product of St. Aloysius High School in Vicksburg, tied for fourth in scoring with eight goals and two assists.
