Lady Diamond Warriors Improve

Sweep Of Delta East Cen1ral Communitv College·s [ast-pitch softball tea;l cruised to a double-header ~weep of visiting Mississippi Delta Thursdav afternoon and imprnved to 11-1 fo.r the 2002 campaign. The Lady Diamond Warriors exploded for 12 runs - including back-to-back homers by Anna Moore of Pearl and April Bufkin of Newton County- in the first inning of game one en route to a 20-2 thrashing over the Lady Trojans. Moore and Bufkin also had sin– gles each and scored twice in the non-division matchup. wbich was ca lled after five innings. Other top s luggers were Rhonda M unn of Philadelph ia and Sommer Averett of Union, with two singles each and two runs scored. Emilv Casey of Union picked up her sixth win on the mound. fn the second game- r. 14-5 deci– sion - Munn and Averett lo::d the offensive attack as they went three-for-four a nd scored three runs each. Paige Posey of Philadelphia went three– for-three with two RBTs and two runs scored. Casey went one-for– three with one run scored and four RBls. Bufkin earned the win for East Central. as she improved to 5-1. East Centra l returns to action March 19 against Southwest Mississippi Community College at 1:30 p.m. o n the Decatur campus.
