The pas– sengers include a nightclub • singer who is being pursued by a love-struck cowboy; a middle– age scholar who comes to terms wit h himself; the bus driver and the proprietor of the cafe', who develop a friendship of their own; and a young wait– ress who gets her first taste of romance. All the characters are looking for something, and it takes a layover at a country diner to find out what.
