Harris named assistant hoops coach at ECCC Betsy Harris of Decatur

was recently named assistant women's basketball coach at East Central Community College, Dr. Phil A Sutphin, ECCC president announced. Harn~ pre\'iOu...,J} served as an asc;istant coach and recru1ter at Troy State University in Troy, Ala. She is abo a former staff member at the University of West Alabama in Livingston, where her dutict; included recruiting, scouting, coach– ing, public relations, and serving as a strength coach. She is also a former fitness assistant at the Fitness and Wellness Center at Anderson's Hospital in Meridian. In addition, Harris has several years experience serving as an instructor at various co!Jege, high school and junior high basketball camps. Harris was an All-State performer at Decatur High School and helped lead the Lady Warriors to the 1990 Class 2A state championship. She also earned All-South State and All-State honors. She attended the University of Alabama on a basketball scholarship and led the Lady Tide to the Final Four in 1994. She holds the record for most three-pointers made in an NCAA Tournament (20 of 40), is Alabama's career and single ~arne record-holder in making three-pointers, and is the SEC Tournament and single game record-holder in three-pointers made.
