The Lady Diamond War– riors, c6ached by Mike An– derson, completed their first season of fast-pitch competition with a 20-20 overall record and were 7- 17 in South Division action. Award winners in men's tennis were Kris Amis, most improved, and Ty Ander– son, Warrior Award; both are from Newton County High School. In women's tennis, awards were presented to Katy Bourland of Winston Academy, most improved; Brandy Burnett of Louis– ville, Lady Warrior Award; and Kasey Comans of Newton County Acad– emy, most valuable player. The Lady Warriors fin– ished fifth in the sta te tournament. Jay Bowen serves as tennis coach. In golf, Jeremy Stevens of Newton County High School was named most . valuable player. Stevens

was also selected AU Re– gion 23 and will compete in the NJCAA Division III Golf Tournament scheduled in New York in June. Joe Clark. who recently ~ounced retirement plans, JS concludmg 30 years of service as ECCC golf coach. Coach Clark was named MAqc Golf Coach of the Year !ollowm~ the 200 1 c~patgn and was recog– ruzed by the state associa– tion for his many years of · service.
