Shane Eck was recently named men's assistant bas– ketball coach at East Cen– tral Commwlity College in Decatur, announced Terry Underwood, athletic direc- tor. Eck's main areas of respon– sibthty include on-the-floor coaching during practice and in games; recruiting; scout– ing; and player supervision in regards to academics and dorms. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Eck will work in the Student Services area. Prior to joining the ECCC staff, Coach Eck served in vanous capacities at Clar– ion University of Pennsylva– nia He most recently held the title of student assistant for the men's basketball team, which last year wen its first Pennsylvania States Athletic Conference and ad– vanced to the NCAA Divi– sion II Tournament. As student assistant, Eck was involved in all facets of practices and games; served as coordinator for all spectal projects; assisted with oppo– nent scouting; and provided assistance in the recruiting area. He also served as in– house office manager, made arrangements for all t rave/ meal plans; served as promo– tions coordinator for tourna– ments; and was responsible for producing and distribut– ing the team's newsletter. He most recently provided assistance as coach/head counselor for a basketball camp sponsored by the Philadelphia 76'ers of the National Basketball Association and held in Stroudsb-qrg, Pennsylvania. Eck is ci 2001 graduate of Clarion University, where he recetved a bachelor's de– gree in speech commwlica– tion and theatre.
