An East Central Commu– mty College student has so much admiration for one of h1s mstructors that he estab– lished a scholarship in her honor. The Stella Dickerson Technical Honor Scholar– ship is for deservmg techm– cal sophomore students who demonstrate leadership and academic excellence in teh field of technology. Ernie Brown, an adult student from Little Rock, mitiated the scholarship with the assis– tance of the College's Theta Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, in tribute to Stella Dickmson of Union, a com– puter technology instructor at the Co lege Brown, a 3~-vear-old com– puter technology major who also serves as vice president for scholarship for PTK, the international honor society for two-year colleges, cited Dickerson's dedication to her students for the reason he established the scholar– ship. "This scholarship is named in Mrs. Dickerson's honor for the countless hours she spends instructing stu– dents. She is a shining ex– ample of a true educator

She shows exceptional lead– ership arid accepts no less than the very best from each student. She is a member and constant supporter of Phi Theta Kappa and encourages each of her students to strive for academic excellence. With her famous words, 'You can do it; I know you can,' she has been, and will continue to be an inspiration to us all." According to Larry Hogue, vice president for foundation and alumni development, this scholarship is unique.
