Eas Central hosts college rodeo event a eshoba Col iseum

State (Ala.) Community College and Northwest Muscle Shoals (Ala.) Community College. Among the 19 schools scheduled to take part in the "Warrior Showdown" Oct. 26-28 are: Abral1am Baldwin (Ga.) Agricultural College Missouri Valley College, Southern Arkansa~ University, South-west Missouri State, Univer-sity ofTennessee at Martin, Arkansas State University, Murray State (Ky.) University, Arkansas Tech University, Southern illinois University, University ofArkailSas at Monticello, and University oflllinois– Urbana. Natalie Tillman ofUnion is on the team and she is joined by others from the area, including Brian Newell of Meridian, Billy Mack Kinard of Collinsville, Darvol Hart of Little Rock, Nikki Rabon and Max Bounds of Newton, Sam Crowson ofLouisville, and Bubba Clark of Jachin, Ala. Sara Wil~on o~ Mendenhall _ has already had a strong showmg this season, taking first place in the break away roping event in an event hosted by Missouri Valley College, Sept. 28-30. The ECCC women finished third in that event. Other team members are Adam Costillow of Wesson, Trey Austin of Richland and Billy Brake of Brandon.

The East Central Community College rodeo team will be hosting a 19-team, three-day event at the Ne.shoba County Coliseum beginning on Thursday, Oct. ~6. '"This is really a big event for us and draws in people from all around," said ECCC vice president for public relations Bubby Johnston. "It seems like it i.s getting bigger and bigger." The ''Warrior Showdown" begins at 7:30 p.m. eaCh night with admission be~g $5 for adults and S3 for children and is sponsore{i in prut by a grant from the Philadelphia Neshoba County Tourism Council. In the sport of college rodeo, teams from junior colleges and four-year colleges and universities com– pete against each other. Among the schools being represented at the "Warrior Showdown" will be the University of Georgia, t:niversity of Notre Dame and Michigan State University. Mississippi and Alabama schools competing will be ECCC, Northwest Mississippi Community College, the University of West Alabama, Faulkner
