East Central ·issues win top awar

First-place honors in sever– al categories were presented to the Public Information Office at East Central Community College in Decatur following the annual College Public Relations Association of Mississippi (CPRAM) Conference/Awards Ceremony held in Biloxi. East Central's alumni mag– azine, The Warrior, captured top honors for the second con– se.cutive year. The publication is. distributed in the fall and spring semester s to approxi– mately 7500 alumni and friends of the College. · The student newspaper, EC Express, also received a first– place award. The publication is mailed three times a year to

senior and junior high school students in the ECCC District, which includes Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott and Winston counties. In addition, the College's Web Page, eccc.cc.ms.us , received fust-place honors for the second time in three years. The web site was created and is currently maintained by Todd Eldridge, who serves the College as webmaster, library technical assistant and art instructoz{ ' Bubby Johnston, Director of Public Information, also received awards in the news and sports writing categories. Johnston won second-place in the News Story category for his article, "Malone Earns Fire

Tech Degree," and received a third-place award in the same category for his article, "Gordon Named Alumna of the Year." He was presented a third-place award in the Sports Story competition for his arti– cle, "ECCC Names Athletic Hall of Fame Recipients." In addition to Johnston, other members of the College's Public Information Staff

include Maria MeL Karen Yates. Contn writers for the alumru zine include Dr. Ed Smith, retiring presider Carol and Ovid Vicker::. faculty members.
