Selected to deliver the com– mencement address is honor stu– dent Chris Weems of Newton. Weems, an engineering major with a 4.0 grade point average, was named to the 2000 All-USA Academic School, the All– Mississippi Academic First Team and was chosen a J. C. Grid– Wire Scholar Athlete All– American for the 1999 season. A President's Scholar and member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, he was recently inducted into the ECCC Hall of Fame, the highest honor a student can receive at the College. He was an All-State punter last season for t he Warrior football team. Special music will be present– ed by graduating sophomores Laura Marie Aregood of Madison , Tara L. Yarbrough of Sturgis and Marva Jean Cavenaugh of Chunky, who will perform Rogers and Hammerstien's "You'll Never Walk Alone," as arranged by Justin Sharp of Harperville. Other graduating sophomores participating in the program are Veronica Haynes of Louisville and Bridgette Stamper of Decatur. Diplomas will be awarded by Dr. Eddie M. Smith, retiring ECCC President, and Dr. Phil A Sutphin, Dean of Instruction and President-Elect.
