Warrior Rally falls short; Holmes claims 18-10 win

After spotting Holmes Com– munity College an 18-0 halftime lead, East Central Community College ral– lied for two scores in the fmal two periods but the comeback attempt fell short as the Bulldogs held on for an 18-10 homecoming victory Saturday night. East Central, which fell to 3- 2 overall following the nondivision matchup; scored early in the third pe– riod when quarterback Mitchell McKinnon of Palatka, Florida, con– nected with wide receiver Dontay Spillman ofLouisville, Kentucky, on a 66-yard touchdown strike. Fresh– man kicker Josh Thoms of Newton added the PAT. Thoms later booted a 30-yard field goal to begin the final stanza. Holmes runningback Char he Morton scored all three touchdowns for the Bulldogs, whose record also stands at 3-2. Morton tallied on runs of 19, 1and 4 yards, and led all rush– ers with 173 yards on 38 carries The Bulldogs failed on all three PAT at– tempts. East Central, which averaged
