USM pitcher Courtney Blades became the NCAA Division I career strikeout leader in Saturday's sweep of South Florida as she finished the day with 1,643 whiffs. : • EC softball tryouts today: East Central Community College will host tryouts for the 2001 fast-pitch softball team today (Wednesday) at 4 p.m. at Lady Warrior Field, EC coach Mike Anderson announced. phla, Neshoba Central, Choctaw Cen– tral, and Leake Academy - will try out at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba at 10 a.m. District 4 is the defending gold medal winner. District 4 coaches will be Lee Berry– hill of Eupora and Gregg Perry of Winona. District 5 -Union- will try out at Jones Junior College in Ellisville that same day also at 10 a.m. District 5 coaches will be Luke Leggett of Laurel and Wade Clark of West Jones.
