Hotnecotning plans finalized for ECCC
. Recognition of Alumni of theYear, new members of the Athletic Hall of Fame and Instructots of the Year will highlight Homecoming activities scheduled Oct. 6-7 at East Central Community College in Decatur. A lifetime achievement award will be presented and special recognition will be made of various reunion groups. Among groups being recognized include graduates of th~ Class of 1930, the first such group to be honored at a 70th class reunion. The theme for this year's observance is "Looking to the Future and Remembering Our Past". Recipients of the annual Alumni Association Awards include S. Lebrun "Sibb" Hutchison (Class of 1949) of Littletoh, Colorado, Alumnus of the Year and Jeanette Beevers Thrash (Class of 1958) of Decatur, Alumna of the Year. Also being recognized are new inductees to the Athletic Hall of Fame who include Billy Ray Dill (attended l 964-65 ) of Escatawpa, Coach Sue Gunter (attended 1957-58) of Baton Rouge and Jimmy Rea (Class of 1958) of Madison. Faculty members being hon– ored are Dr. Linda Lane of Jackson, Academic Instructor of the Year and
Sandra Thomas of Chunky, Vocation a 1- Technic a I Instructor of the Year. A Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to photog– rapher James Land (Class of 1938) of Union. Homecoming activities named Homecoming activities officially begin Octobet 2 when competition gets underway for the annual Alumni/Student Tennis Tournament. Tee-off time for the annual Alumni/Student Golf Tournament is sched– uled for 4 p.m. Friday, October 6 at Decatur Country Club. A special event is planned for Friday night at the Vickers F ine Arts Center. "Aunt Blabby" (Pruitt Calvert of Louisville, a 1950 ECCC graduate), will pro– vide entertainment beginning at 7 p,m. There is no charge for admission; however, donations wi,ll be accepted to help East Ceiltral build a new recreational trail around the college lake. The trail is named in honor of the late Dick Livingston of Pulaski, who served almost 30 years in the Mississippi House of Representatives and was a - longtime supporter of his alma mater.
