ECCC presidents - new and old

Submitted photo SUTPHIN HONORED - Dr. Phil A. Sutphin, new president of East Central Com– munity College was congratulated by former President Arno Vincent and his wife, Ruth, during a recent reception held in his hono~ on the Decatur campus. Sutphin, the college's seventh president, served ECCC as dean of instruction and dean of students prior to beginning his new duties July 1. He succeeds Dr. Eddie M. Smith, who retired after 15 years at the helm. Vincent was ECCC's third president, serving from 1953-62. The reception for Dr. Sutphin, and his wife Peggy, far right, was hosted by Decatur United Methodist Church .
