East Central hosting biggest game of year

"Obviously, we had a big day offensively, but our defen~:~e played well and our special teams made some big plays. It was just a good day for us." Underwood is hoping for more of the same this week, but he knows it won't come as easily. Gulf Coast's only two losses were by single digits to Hinds and Southwest, and tht. Bulldogs' 323 points scored leads the South Division. "Steve Wright is a really good football coach, and he's got a really good football team at Gult Coast," Underwood said. "He's got great ski11 peop]e and they're solid on both sides of the ball ... "Th<'y're just as talented as folks like Northwest and Hinds and Southwest." The Bulldogt:~ have the state's top rushing offense and are No. 2 in MiRsissippi in total offense. They're also the No. 1 ranked pass defense unit in the state. Deloise Moore has run for 784 yards (9.6 per carry) and five touchdowns and Doug Gabriel has 565 yards and 12 scores for the Bulldogs. East Central looks to a solid defensive unit and Henley - the former Louisville High School standout who has 973 yards tmd seven touchdowns rushing this season. ·

And it also means that– barring a Pearl River upset of Hinds - there won't be any three-way ties to be broken. "The winner of our game with Gulf Coast is pretty much in," Underwood said.
